Favorite Quotes: “You must stand for something or you will fall for anything… ~ MLK “We begin to die the moment we keep quiet about things that matter.” ~ MLK “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” ~ unknown “I’ve seen plenty, yet I am blind. I’ve heard lots, yet I am deaf. It is not my place to judge anyone.” ~ unknown “Before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth, we were here. Before the pen of Jefferson etched across the pages of history the majestic words of the Declaration of Independence, we were here. If the inexpressible cruelties of slavery could not stop us, the opposition we now face will surely fail.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr. “Do not ask the Lord to guide your footsteps, if you are not willing to move your feet.” ~ unknown “It is the man who does not want to express an opinion whose opinion I want.” ~ Abraham Lincoln “It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart.” ~ Anneliese Marie Frank (1929-1945) “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” ~Unknown "Patriotism is the last vestige of a scoundrel." Samuel Johnson “You can't change the past, but you can ruin a perfectly good present worrying about the future." ~Unknown No Harm: "I have noticed that nothing I have never said ever did me any harm." ~Calvin Coolidge "Don't go away mad, stay and get over it." ~Unknown “A man should never be ashamed to say he has been in the wrong, which is but saying in other words that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.” ~Alexander Pope “It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, more vengeance, more desolation. War is hell.” ~William Tecumseh Sherman~ Music: I am eclectic when it comes to music as I find it is all about the flow, rhythm, and message. Tupac will always be my number one poet and rapper along with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. Now mind you, I can not comprehend this nonsense regarding East and West coast rappers; (Its all the same to me.) If it sounds good and I’m able to determine the message, then I find it all comparable. Additionally, although I am a middle-aged married woman, I love Ice Cube! I was surprised and shocked to hear that he’s married. Nonetheless, I just want to say that I’m a true fan and have been since his NWA days. Alternatively, I have been mocked for having Journey, Tupac and Frank Sinatra in the same musical selection, but its what I like to listen to. (As Mya said, 'It's all about me.') Favorite Sport(s): I enjoy watching many sports although I wished I had stayed with track in my younger skinnier but healthier days. I use to be so fast; I outran most everyone in the entire school. To quote the famous Marlon Brando, "I could have been a contender!" I enjoy watching sports on television, but I normally fall asleep within 45minutes to an hour. As a youngster, I use to enjoy watching baseball with my dad, but as time progressed, I seemed to have forgotten how the game is played; rules and plays etc. Now, I enjoy watching football, but let me say that I am NOT a Denver Broncos fan! I wouldn’t miss them if they vacated Denver on the next thing smoking! Puleaseee give me a break. My favorite sport: Basketball. GO NUGGETS! (Bubba Chuck, Anthony, Boykins, Camby, Martin, Nene`) Recommended Products: While I’m home, I note a lot of commercials that advertise their products are able to do this and/or that and you should purchase them. The following products are good and worth the bucks: Sulfur hair treatment: If you have a itchy scalp and after trying multiple shampoos and conditioners, you might want to find relief in this product. Yes, the smell is not always pleasant to some, yet my spouse says it smells of perfume, either or, it is worth the relief. Jergens Lotion: Yes it cost a tad more than some lotions, but it has really helped my dry skin. (Try buying in bulk at Sam’s.) Kroeger (store brand) Lotion: If you can not afford to pay the higher price of Jergens, I certainly recommend purchasing this product for moisturizing your skin. Ivory Soap: While growing up, we were not able to afford the expensive soaps and Ivory was always our first choice. As the years pass, I have found that Ivory soap is still my first choice as it keeps my body clean and fresh. All these years, and Ivory is still performing at an affordable price. Crest Toothpaste: While growing up, we were not able to afford the expensive brand toothpaste. Back then Crest was #1 and still is today; it is a trusted and affordable product. Kodak EasyShare Digital Camera: It is not too pricey as far as digital cameras and takes great quality pictures with many features. HP Computers: This product has made the list for me as I have 4 HP computers and all but one is performing as expected. The lost-child HP computer is still operable, but struggling yet serves a purpose while storing my large pictures. Out of a score between 1 thru 10, I give their products an 8 but their computer customer service reps receive a big fat 1. Sanyo (VCR): I purchased a Sanyo over 20 years ago; it served its purpose. However, when the remote took a turn for the worse, I finally had to put it and me out of its misery about a year or two ago. DirecTV: I consider myself a very reasonable person, but after a messy installation of satellite TV and the ever rising costs of Cable, I certainly recommend Directv. I find it to be the best and affordable service in the area. The installation was professional and their customer service was exceptional. Realtor: When I purchased my home, all I can say is that I wished I had Ms. Joan Cox at Metro Brokers/Priority Properties, Inc. as my realtor. She is professional and again, has exception customer service; she tends to her clients and proposed new clients. She will do everything to earn your business. To me, that is a huge plus in my book as I can’t seem to find business minded people. It’s one thing to be IN business, but a different story to be DOING business, and that is certainly what you will find in Ms. Cox. Home Depot: My former sister in-law congratulated me when I first purchased my home. However, one thing stuck in mind when she said, “You’ll never have any money.” Well, she was right to a certain magnitude, but when we made repairs, we purchased all of our supplies from Home Depot. Home Depot is well known throughout the Country, but the store in Aurora, CO has excellent customer service skills and has everything we need - all in one store. Products and Businesses I would NEVER EVER recommend: A Affordable Painting, Inc: If you see them coming, RUN! Sun Laundry Detergent Sears products (I must say that my washer and dryer have survived for more than 5 years!) Green Valley Association’s Management Companies (As of today, none of them have been able to live up to MY expectations. I suppose I can only presume that they can do better for my money.) I have NOT purchased the product to clean your microwave, as it just seems as if it would be a waste of money. When cleaning a friends microwave, I just simply filled a small finger bowl with water and placed it inside the microwave with a towel. After a few seconds, I opened the microwave and easily wiped away the gunk. Cost? A few seconds. Favorite Shows on Television:
